Saturday, September 11 2010 @ 11:10 AM CDT
Contributed by: Admin

General News Following last year's external renovation of the Cupola, we've now put our focus on another major area of the house needing attention, the southern side of the house and dining room roof. Over the course of the last few years we've had an increasing occurrence of leaks in the dining room and kitchen which we originally believed to be tied to the the area where the dining room roof meets the side of the house. Please read on for details of what we found and the work currently underway to remediate....

NEWS ALERT : Pi Fundraising Progress (UPDATED 5th Time))  View Printable Version
Wednesday, July 15 2009 @ 12:35 AM CDT
Contributed by: Admin

General News As of Thursday afternoon (7/20/2009) we have raised $18,754.00 for our emergency fundraising campaign. Given this is an email-only campaign and the original request has been submitted only two weeks ago, we consider this outstanding progress. We are still short of our $20,000.00 goal but there still is time to help out!

As we mentioned previously , while undertaking necessary repairs to the Pi coop roof, we discovered much more serious issues. We have elected to take on some much needed exterior renovation work which is the start of returning the Pi back to the white color scheme. Please click the "read more" button to see who has contributed to-date and more importantly, how you can help!

NEWS ALERT : Coop Restoration Work Underway  View Printable Version
Wednesday, June 24 2009 @ 11:11 AM CDT
Contributed by: Admin

General NewsIt has been a long time coming... Over the years the coop has probably earned it's spot as least likely to receive periodic maintenance. For one reason or another, other projects have taken higher priority (Heat, Foundation, Exterior Painting, the list goes on and on...).

We have heard, loud and clear, that many Pi Alumni are not happy with the exterior condition of the house. We couldn't agree more and have started looking at alternatives to not only restoring the Pi exterior, but upgrading it so it can endure year after year of harsh Syracuse winters. It should be no surprise that the Pi is one of the last remaining all-wood structures on the University campus. Even more amazing is that much the exterior siding is original dating back to the turn of the century. Layers and layers of paint have built up over the years, to the point where there is simply no way to paint over the existing layers. There is no real surface for the paint to adhere to anymore. This is most evident on the upper floors of the house.

Well, the Trust Association decided that some critical work needed to be done on the coop and set aside money to get the roof and interior ceiling replaced. Please read on for what we have discovered and how we need your help!

General NewsAnnouncing the new Pi Alumni web portal and a major step up from the old PiWeb site built a few years ago!

*** If you don't login, you won't be able to access anything beyond the standard stuff available for 'public' view!

IMPORTANT NOTE! For obvious reasons, the latest Pi Garnet did not mention the password to access the site. If you need a password, please fill out the account request form and we'll get your account activated and the password sent to you via email.

For those that have forgotten your username, it is constructed as follows (first letter of first name + first six letters of last name + last two digits of the 'official' year you graduated). An example would be 'jcornac86'. (Punctuation in last names is ignored and is not part of the username.)
